Observations on Citation Indices/Metrics

Results for the h-index, i10-index and total number of citations show similar trends as other Engineering fields, increasing with the level of staff seniority. Staff numbers for the Chemical Engineering field were relatively low, with less than 3 staff being able to be identified with Google Scholar information at the Lecturer level. Although trends are similar to other Engineering fields, on this limited data range it would be hard to justify the use of he values as a robust proxy for nationally significant research impact levels within Chemical Engineering.
